In the spring of 2017 Kent County welcomed a brand new 85- acre multipurpose sports complex. The Delaware Turf Sports Complex features 12 synthetic turf fields with sports lighting and scoreboards, centered by 700 seat championship stadium. The complex has hosted teams and families from all over the country and is known as one of the premier sporting facilities in the US. In 2016 Kent County partnered with the boys & girls club to open an $11- million-dollar, 62,500 square foot rec center. There is seating for up to 500 spectators in the gym. Outside there is an artificial turf sports field that includes bleachers, concession stand and restroom. Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge is a favorite spot for nature lovers, where many different species of waterfowl, deer, American Bald Eagle, and small game can be observed in their natural environment. Killen's Pond State Park features camping, year-round cabins, picnic areas, nature trails, boat rentals, a pool, game courts and pavilions for visitors to enjoy. Delaware Bay and its quaint fishing towns lure the sportsman, and the Delaware ocean beaches considered the best on the East Coast, are only an hour's drive away. For the winter sports fan, the Pocono ski resorts are just a three-hour drive away.
